The grand irony, here, is that the authors chose to include it, and pretend that a god said it... because it was the best information they had at the time and widely held to be true. This isn't all that much different from some religious person today who points to genetics as a demonstration of their gods ability. Consider your alternate universe again, where we discover evolution didn't happen. Where genetics is a conspiracy of falsehoods, to whatever end. All of the religious people who point to it, in the here and now, to demonstrate their gods ability....will have pointed to a falsehood.

Everena: I was not threatening you. I was asking you, what if the Christians are right? We don't know for sure that they are wrong and it is something I wonder myself on occasion. I was just curious if you ever wondered that yourself. A Jesus freak would believe that Jesus is God and I do not believe that, nor do I believe the Bible is the word of God. It could have been inspired by prophets of God though. We really don't know. And if you are claiming you have no soul then you are equating yourself to a robot.
