What consequences are there when a woman aborts a <13 week old fetus?
She has stopped a beating heart that has already been beating for 5-7 weeks and terminated a human life.
At that stage, cognitive thought has not occurred. The fetus is alive, but not independent. The heart is beating, but cannot continue to do so outside the mother. Equating that to a human who is independent of its mother is not supportable. There is a nub of a brain, but there is no activity showing thought happening.

What makes a human a human? Arms? Legs?
... or cognitive thought?
A wart has my DNA. Is it an abortion to extirpate it? Macaque monkeys have arms and legs. Do you protest when they are killed? Roaches have functioning brains, yet I've no doubt you've got a can of Raid under your sink.
Under thirteen weeks, the fetus is incapable of thought, which is, after all, the hallmark of the species labelled "Man, the wise". What differentiates us from other animals is our capacity for thought. If a fetus is not capable of thinking, how on Earth can it be human? It is a potential human, sure. But if you are going to fight for potential personhood, will you outlaw masturbation?
eta: Wait, forget I asked that.
