If we are going to talk about Muslims in France, then certainly we can also talk about how girls who wear headscarves are kicked out of school or even kicked out of classroom for wearing a long skirt because it resembles a religious symbol - Seriously google it. My girlfriend wears long skirts, because she likes them! A problem with religions and ethnic minorities is that when they feel excluded from mainstream society, and because they are low in numbers, every part of their culture and identity becomes important to strengthen bonds and make them feel good. Obviously, extremism is a natural result of this. I don't think France's ultra secular laws are helping combat extremism - Quite the opposite, Muslims will become more violent as a consequence of enforced laicité. Everything a religion causes people to do is "because of religion", good and bad deeds. I refuse the conclusion that religion causes people to do good, therefore I must refuse the idea that it causes evil as well. It's a matter of logical coherence. We are nice and rude because of a variety of factors, mostly evolutionary traits.
