I draw the distinction between going out to buy a book and burning it as a statement, versus burning books from bookstore, libraries, and other people's book shelves so no one else can read it.
The former, so long as its purpose was clear and not an opening shot in a campaign to do the latter, is not in and of itself repulsive to me. The latter, burning books so other people can't read them, is in most cases an opening shot to burning people so other people would be scared of thinking like them.
