Haha, go easy on him. I got a feeling from this conversation that he was young and according to his profile he's 19 and it's possible a 19 year old doesn't know everything in the world about how adult relationships actually work.
I don't see what my age has to do with the irrational nature of promises, but you do have a slight point there, even though my inexperience is more likely to be related to more practical issues than the one I was discussing in that particular instance.
