People cheat for all sorts of reasons: it's not all malicious. Maybe the person feels like they're trapped in a relationship with someone they don't love due to cultural or social pressures, yet need some release elsewhere. Maybe they got unwantonly tempted being placed in the wrong position at the wrong time. Maybe they thought initially they were monogamous in attitude, realized eventually they were not, but are too afraid to speak about it to the spouse, so they do it in private. Nobody knows the reasons exactly for every individual case.
