Not to cast any aspersions but it sounds like pops has more problems than narcissism.
My family out here knows how he is, and they can’t get along with him either, practically no one can. The only way people can get along with him is if the relationship is saying a hello in the neighborhood on occasion. He literally can’t get along with anyone that he lives with. He has a lot of problems living with people on his side of the family (that are similar to him), and with us (that are the opposite of him), it’s definitely not me or anyone else. I want peace, that’s all I want. I want it desperately.
He definitely has personality disorder(s), and looks at the world in a very radical way. He thinks Obama is the anti-christ, he thinks he’s not going to leave office, he believes no one on this planet can deny the ‘miracles’ at fatima. He thinks all the bigfoot, ghost, psychic, alien abduction stories are a 100% legit. We were watching a program on T.V. before, and a guy had claimed that he had traveled back in time to see the Gettysburg Address multiple times on one of those conspiracy shows, and he said, “I have no reason to doubt this guy. I can tell by his eyes, he’s not making it up.” My dad is very far gone from reality, although most wouldn’t normally pick it up when first meeting him, because he’s usually kind, talkative, and has a sense of humor.. come to think of it.. it’s almost something like bi-polar or something.. I don’t know. I definitely don't want to be around him drinking, he literally completely loses his fucking mind. He can go from laughing his ass off to screaming like a fucking maniac. It's like a very temporary bi-polar thing though, he's just a miserable piece of shit, even after putting himself in a state of grace, praying for hours a day.
Anti-intellectualism has been a constant thread winding its way through our political and cultural life, nurtured by the false notion that democracy means that 'my ignorance is just as good as your knowledge.' -Isaac Asimov-
