"I say us white people should go burn down the businesses of people who had absolutely nothing to do with it." That's what I wrote. It's a social commentary because I'm alluding to recent behavior by black people in Ferguson and Baltimore . The admission on my part in the sentence itself ("..people who had absolutely nothing to do with it") that such actions make no sense reveal that I don't actually mean what I say. That's where the sarcasm comes in. I'm not actually saying white people should burn down buildings. I'm using sarcastic social commentary to make a bigger point about double standards. Do people get it now? Probably not.
The demonstrations in Ferguson and Baltimore concern the issue of police brutality.
The tragic shootings in Virginia today and the related SC church massacre are both lone gunman attacks carried out by mentally unstable civilians, with access to firearms. There were no riots are burning of businesses as a result of the lone gunman attack on the Charleston Church.
These are two completely separate and unrelated issues. Do you understand that?
If you're suggesting that Black people burn down businesses whenever a crazed active shooter targets blacks, I'm saying you're wrong. There is no double standard for this sort of event, except for the one you invented. That's my point.
