Name's Brian, I'm an atheist of twenty years or so. Openly for the last 2 or 3. Skimmed through a few posts already and like what I'm seeing so far. A little about me; I'm a marine corps veteran of 6 years, gear head, gun nut, no stranger to forums. Interested to see what the demographic is like 'round these parts. Generally I'd say I'm not your "normal" atheist but my perception of such gets changed on an almost daily basis and I guess that's one of the reasons why I am here. I love seeing non-believers from all walks of life. Anyways, looking forward to interacting with all ya'll so don't be a stranger ya hear?!
I am a combat veteran. OEF 2011 Kabul, Afghanistan to be exact. And to "those people" who say the above i respond with: I know many a non-believing combat survivor. In fact i know quite a few that after seeing and doing the things they saw and did, they came to the conclusion that their can not be a god. I can't speak for them but for me i will say that after my deployment it opened my eyes to the world. Seeing the things that people would do in the name of a so called "peaceful religion" just because they didn't agree with our way of life disgusted me. It actually led me to come out as an atheist whereas before i remained quiet just for ease of day to day life. Though now I'm of the opinion that being atheist is not something that should be hidden.
