Well, you do have some redeeming qualities. Have you read any Brandon Sanderson?

Never heard of him. Been caught up in an old series by David Eddings.

Seeing that you like Gaiman and Pratchett, you'll probably like Sanderson as well. He's the guy that finished "The Wheel of Time" after Jordan died. I'd recommend "Elantris" to start. Great world building, very good characterization and it's a stand alone so you won't feel compelled to "finish the story" if it's not to your liking.
