Yep, you can absolutely do this, as long as you have installation media and an appropriate product key.
Well it came installed on the laptop when I bought it but no disc. And the product key... it's gotta be somewhere, probably on the bottom of the laptop or I might have to email the vendor. But I do have a backup image I could restore to but are you saying that wouldn't work?
ETA: Yeah, I've got the product key in control panel>system. But I think I'll write that down just in case I need it separately.
