I get that, but do you have any idea what it's like to have a mental illness? Do you know what it's like to deal with intrusive thoughts you would do anything to make go away? Sure, on the outside what she has done seems callous, but you have to understand that just like your eyes don't work properly, neither does her brain. By judging her actions in such a manner and taking it personally you are holding her to the standards of someone whose brain does not malfunction, and that's no fairer than if I expected you to read this text.
Mental illness is as much a disability as any physical one, and it's time we recognized it as one.
