Another explanation of how life formed so quickly seems to be that life originated as extremophiles near hydrothermal vents. This severs the dependence of early life on sunlight, clement surface conditions and large bodies of persistent surface water. In this explanation life could have flourished on earth right through the Hadean age without extensive assumptions about when and how the earth got it's water.
