Additionally, I didn't cite "moral equivalence". I just think that China too is Clausewitzian in seeing war as an extension of political and economic struggle. The corollary to that, of course, is that political and economic struggle is an extension of warfare.
I certainly don't shrug and say "meh" ... where you got that from, I can't say, but certainly not from an accurate reading of my post.
Yeah, I tend to argue against stereotypes, in this case the appeasing moral-equivalent panda-huggers. If that's not you, then no problem.
Two good writers about China are Steven Mosher (who argues that war, fascism/totalitarianism, and the art of toppling hegemonic powers, are in China's DNA) and Michael Pillsbury (who demonstrates the current signs of such DNA, from the time of Mao up until now).
