Putin touts solidarity with China in Xi’s pitch for new world order as crisis grips Middle East
CNN
[quote]Vladimir Putin and Chinese leader Xi Jinping discussed the conflict in the Middle East during a meeting on the sidelines of the Belt and Road Forum in Beijing Wednesday, according to the Russian leader – who said “common threats” brought the two countries closer.
The international gathering, which saw leaders and representatives from countries mostly in the Global South congregate in the Chinese capital, took place under the shadow of war between Israel and militant group Hamas that threatens to escalate into broader regional conflict.
“We discussed in detail the situation in the Middle East,” Putin said in a press conference. “I informed Chairman (Xi) about the situation that is developing on the Ukrainian track, also quite in detail.”
“All these external factors are common threats, and they strengthen Russian-Chinese interaction,” Putin added.[quote]

So, they discussed how to be a common threat to everyone?

I wonder just how far China would go against the US. We import a hell of a lot of stuff from there. Seems that we (Usians) have quite a hand in keeping their economy going.
Not that I think a China/Russia alliance is a good thing but China will need someone to sell their wares to.

Just about everything in NZ and Oz seems to be made (badly) in China.

Putin has no choice about who to tout solidarity with because China is the only one who is anyone who might not publically decline the honor.
Xi is an idiot and ignoramus who didn’t quite understand where china’s strengths were, so he crassly and grossly overplayed china’s hand in areas where China is not strong and in the process nullified china’s actual strength.

Xi is an ignorant and arrogant idiot. In Xi’s idea of new world order there is no place for Russia other than as an oil and gas field for China. He is too full of himself to actually see the flaw in this plan and china’s unequalness to the task of attaining it. Putin at the moment has no real choice but to pretend he and Xi see eye to eye. Although what Putin would claim to have seen once he gets back to Moscow would bear no resemblance to what Xi would claim to have seen in Chinese media.
