Fixed it for you. Brian, seriously though, politics in itself is all about lying, misleading, cheating and dirty tactics. It's ugly on both sides.
I agree that all politicians in the USA (I can't speak for others) seem to be corrupt sleazeballs, and that our political process has driven off the rails, but I don't see 1/10th as much of the truly heinous stuff on the Democrats' side as I do from the GOP.
At least once upon a time they had the decency to at least try to hide their corporate owners' influence. Now companies are literally handing them pre-written bills to pass.
What bothers me most is the propaganda efforts that (successfully!) convince so many Americans of things that are simply not true. Just trying to have a conversation about commerce regulations, civil rights, or economics guarantees an avalanche of bullshit, and I find that 90% of the time the overt bullshit is coming from my Republican friends/relatives. Easy example: "Obama is a socialist, Muslim, anti-business pseudo-hippie who wasn't even born in America".
The one that tends to get my goat the most, after having worked as an environmental scientist, is when they repeat corporate propagandists who've convinced them that it's the environmentalists, not the for-profit polluters, who "have a dangerous agenda".
A Christian told me: if you were saved you cant lose your salvation. you're sealed with the Holy Ghost
I replied: Can I refuse? Because I find the entire concept of vicarious blood sacrifice atonement to be morally abhorrent, the concept of holding flawed creatures permanently accountable for social misbehaviors and thought crimes to be morally abhorrent, and the concept of calling something "free" when it comes with the strings of subjugation and obedience perhaps the most morally abhorrent of all... and that's without even going into the history of justifying genocide, slavery, rape, misogyny, religious intolerance, and suppression of free speech which has been attributed by your own scriptures to your deity. I want a refund. I would burn happily rather than serve the monster you profess to love.
