I get you're unhappy about this. But there's nothing wrong with it.
Sure there's something wrong with it.
People's beliefs don't live in a vacuum.
Their beliefs inform their actions.
The less one's beliefs accurately map to reality, the more likely they are to make bad decisions.
And, way too often, those bad decisions effect other people.
You'd believe if you just opened your heart" is a terrible argument for religion. It's basically saying, "If you bias yourself enough, you can convince yourself that this is true." If religion were true, people wouldn't need faith to believe it -- it would be supported by good evidence.
