Do you have any evidence that this is the case or is it more dogma?

What a disappointment yogini!  
I would have thought that you are a bit smarter than that.    
The space is a physical body made of matter, water, light, air and space.
You can perceive with your physical senses these factors but you can not do the same
thing with something that you can not perceive with your physical senses such as the consciousness.    
Even a demented idiot can understand this simple point.  

How do you know? Have you looked? What's your evidence? You've just repeated your prior assertion without adding anything to it.
