I don't understand, why do Christians not like Masturbation or porn

The myth that the bible is against masturbation comes from the misinterpretation of the story of Onan. God struck him down for refusing to impregnate his dead brother's wife by pulling out and spelling his seed. This has also been wrongly interpreted to imply that the bible is against contraception.

It all goes to show that it matters what people think the bible says, rather than what it actually says, most of the time.

That's one piece of the puzzle. Onan is killed for "spilling his seed on the earth," and they focus on that rather than the mostly Jewish sin of failing to impregnate the woman and preserve the line.


Then we head over to Matthew, where Jesus says that if your hand causes you to sin you should cut it off, and if your eye causes you to sin, you should gouge it out. Obviously, he's talking about your porno-watching eyes and your masturbating hands, which means masturbation makes you go to hell.


This line of reasoning was introduced to me on a college campus by a street preacher named Brother Micah, who is the kind of evangelist that does not bother to carry a bullhorn; just a bible, his wife, and a bunch of tracts. He is a loud and proud moron, and I hope I get the chance to troll him again one day. I was a Christian and a muggle who knew a few cantrips the last time we matched wits.
