Is religion child abuse?

The parents believe they are saving their children and making them better people by teaching them this stuff. This is not more child abuse than teaching them to be polite or to not cheat or steal. It's not really child abuse.

In reality society sees a very fine line between bringing up children and indoctrination. I am inclined to say that raising children in a particular religion is indoctrination regardless of the parents intentions.

As a Liberal Democrat when it comes to political philosophy, unless society and their elected representatives deems particular children are being indoctrinated. I cant support banning parents from raising their children in a religious faith. However I agree with Daniel Dennett's proposal for education in different religions for children in the school system from Kindergarten to High School.
