Religion pressures people to start having kids as early as possible and to have as many as possible. This is done by the same people who just don't seem to understand some people, you know, dumb kids who forgot the contraception, having any kids at all. I think it all comes down to their control freak view of marriage. The part about all the kids just seems to be a useful side effect granting them extra people to indoctrinate and have working for them.
