But in reality, at least I think, many southern states are actually more Liberal then you think but with plenty of people thinking their votes won't effect anything.
I understand that liberal and conservative don't mean the same thing in the UK as they do in the US, so we have to be careful about throwing words around thinking that people know what we're talking about.
