One thing that makes the question obsolete is that if anyone was to go back in time and kill a major influence on history they would pretty much undoubtedly be killing themselves, unless it was a killing that took place after they were born.
I half agree with what people are saying about dictators are a symptom of the situation, on the other hand I wouldn't be so sure of that being the case all of the time, I think populations of people can change just from a few changes in the people in charge.
Wouldn't it be a wiser move to divert Franz Ferdinand from being assassinated anyway? Disregarding the fact that you'd almost be certainly killing yourself and creating a paradox.
