Something similar happened to my white friend, he was in a record store (HMV) and the security actually did some sort of citizens arrest on him and took him to the backroom to show him on CCTV that he had definitely stolen something, he hadn't stolen anything and the CCTV footage confirmed it.
From my experience security staff do racially profile people but it's usually Romanians and any gypsie sort of people. School kids tend to get followed if they're teenagers, they usually have bags which could be a method of concealment and usually hang around in groups.
If white teenagers get unjustly blamed for stealing it's just a bit of a shame, when black kids get unjustly accused of stealing it makes news headlines and now the owner of apple is probably going to have to kiss Jesse Jacksons anus for reparations.
As for this not being the australian way, as someone else said, every person in the video clip is Australian, case closed, there's no American procedure booklet distributed among apple stores that says to treat black people unfairly.
