The better theists and most atheists have no trouble copping to agnosticism. Only atheists who have their critical capacity eroded during prolonged bouts of theism want to keep the sure-as-shooting frame of mind they enjoyed so much as theists. The correct response to theism is incredulity, not an argument over the facts.
Agnostic Atheist: No I don't believe in your hooey.
Gnostic Atheist: I know everything there is to know about hooey and, for a fact, it doesn't exist.
Better-than-thou Agnostic: I don't judge. Who's to say? If you can't say anything nice, just don't say anything at all. *Kumbaya*
