In what way is this not representative of human failure?
I see at least two missed the point. It was absolutely "representative of human failure". That was the intent, as there have been several comments addressing the potential computer errors and personal discomfort levels with a device that does nothing but it's job, the dialog was intended to showcase the human error involved in contrast to Homeless Nutter's comfort level with an autopilot which would not be engaging in conversation, but rather doing it's job and putting the fucking flaps out. If there had been an autopilot in control, those two flights would never have crashed. There was no defect in either plane prior to the crash other than inattentive pilots. I would probably start flying again if autopilots were in control.
(I forget sometimes that a thesis needs to be attached to my comments.)
With all that said and done, back to the OP, what would probably happen is the "blue screen of death" and everybody would die.

You make people miserable and there's nothing they can do about it, just like god.
