In the Middle East, security gets so tight you don't even get to scratch. I thought it was the same outside. And hence the low capabilities of Middle Eastern countries.

That's because Middle East is the sandy asshole of the world, occupied - apparently - by violent, immoral animals, that can only be kept from raping each other to death by war-loving theocratic tyranny, with the power to strip-search anyone, anywhere, cut off body parts and execute people on the spot... We, in most of Europe, have recently enjoyed high levels of freedom, security and privacy characteristic to civilized, secular and democratic societies - we could even freely scratch ourselves, imagine that! That is - until people, who are still stuck in the Dark Ages brought their disease over here...
And you can blame the "extremists" for that, if it helps you sleep at night, but it's true that the majority of muslims living in Europe (not to mention those who live in Islamic countries - because nobody asks them) is against personal liberties, like freedom of speech and for the barbaric sharia law.
So yeah - I'm sure security measures all around Europe will increase from now on - although it will most likely be just more security theatre, like airport security after 911. And I can assure you, this constant reminder of the fact, that we are at war won't make the average European any more sympathetic to the plight of Islamic refugees. Or muslims being bombarded in their own countries, for that matter.
