He didn't ask "who agrees with stoning for adultery". Rather put the clause "whatever law as long is it's from God and his Messenger".
The Quran for example says if God wrote down for people to leave their homes or kill themselves, it would be better for them to obey that even though very few in actuality would obey those commands.
But reality he would never do so, and it goes against his nature to do so.
So how many people actually believe in those laws out of the audience is not known by the way he phrased the question.
