I am not stating that one should just form a relationship out of pity, but one should always be more careful in how one reacts with another, especially in letting that person down.

true that. Its one thing to say "no thanks im not interested." this would be fine and any adverse reaction to this is just the fault of the guy/girl who cant understand a polite no. Its another thing to say "OMG yur disgusting get the fuck away from me" when all he or she did was ask for the chance.
