People should also be aware that they can come off as creeps when they "ask for a chance" repeatedly. Or follow and leer. I don't think some men realize how frightening attempts to "express interest" can seem from the other side.
I'm generally curt, and occasionally rude when strange men approach me out of nowhere and think I'm obligated to care that they're interested. I don't know these men or what they have in mind. Self-preservation is my primary concern, not soothing their ego.
