I see them as victims. They have likely been brainwashed into thinking they are unworthy since birth. I know what such psychological abuse can do, I had a version of it myself. It made me consider myself worthless and incapable. It took me a lot of time and effort to break free of that perception. I can't imagine how much harder it is when everyone around you is reinforcing those beliefs.
