Actually he did and was pretty lonely. For starters he was born out of wedlock and because shame imposed by religion he had to be abandoned by his mother for few days so she could adopt him for some reason and he showed psychopathic tendencies toward women from very early age, like putting knives in his aunt's bed when he was 3 years old - after which she was afraid of him.
Later on he did have problems being in relationships because he was really immature. He would do really childish stuff like sneaking behind his girlfriend, tapping her on the shoulder and then hiding. Not unlike Elliot Rodger because when some guy complains he can't find a girlfriend it's because he's immature and thinks he'll find a Playboy Bunny for a girlfriend or meet some movie star that he has crush on.
But of course as Ted Bundy became famous he started getting girls like many other serial killers so if Elliot Rodger didn't let himself get shot...
teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"
