Hey buddy, in this day and age, I have known nice people, who identify as gender non binary, who prefer to go by they/them pronouns. It's perfectly normal to use they or them in singular. You just fucked up and said something pretty bigoted, unintentionally though. So please apologize. I referred to them as they because nobody's told me their gender.
