Of course they did, they were just as much human as anyone else, despite what Darwin thought.

Except they believed in other deities really expression of knowing about God, that's why the people in tribes that have little contact believe in malignant spirits and shamans

Yes you do, you just surppress it in your heart.

"For his invisible attributes, namely, his eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly perceived, ever since the creation of the world, in the things that have been made. So they are without excuse. 21For although they knew God, they did not honor him as God or give thanks to him, but they became futile in their thinking, and their foolish hearts were darkened. 22 Claiming to be wise, they became fools, 23and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images resembling mortal man and birds and animals and creeping things."

Romans 1:20-23

And you use a book without proof to prove your point

Some truth claims can be found without direct observation. Those not told about God are still aware of Him because his creation makes him apparent, so man is without excuse. As to the heart thing, it's a figure of speech there buddy, hence why every love song ever written talks about the heart.

It's not a figure of speech, it's a common misconception that the organ that feels is the heart, because it "bumps" faster in "love" situations it's a reaction to the brain, and not a figure of speech, and no his "creation" does not make him apparent, since the universe ultimately only prove that the universe exists, i once believed but stopped believing due to god having no proof at all, also he's a wrathful, prideful and childish jerk, and those who aren't told of him aren't aware of him.

And why is empiricism a self refuting world-view?
