Hate is an emotion just like any other. In certain situations, it's useful. For example, if someone what trying to rape someone I love - - I'm going to hate them. That gives me the fuel to do whatever I have to do to stop them. Of course, "stop" probably would mean "chop up into dog food" . . . so hate might go a bit overboard.
And that's the problem, particularly when hatred becomes constant, and an obsession. Someone described hatred as picking up a hot coal to throw at your enemy. You get burned too. But if you keep holding on, you destroy a part of yourself.
