I was tired of constantly adjusting the way I wanted to live my life to a belief system that lacks evidence.
When I say that, I don't mean that I was tired of having to restrain myself from condemned behaviors -- no hedonism here. But I was upset that I was not allowed to support LGBT rights, a women's right to choose, funding for birth control, the removal of religious references from government, and other things. I was frustrated by the fact that I was barred in principle from dating members of other faith communities, and different sexual preferences. in effect, I was craving for the ability to be able to "think different."
That's when I knew I was atheist.
