Or.. what is the purpose of being alive? What difference does it make if someone is alive or not? What should hold someone out from committing suicide if there is no meaning or purpose to this pathetic of an excuse of time on this shithole of a planet?..

On a serious note, there is a strong theory to explain an important purpose for life to develop and continue its existence, and it's related to the 2nd Law of Thermodynamics (which is ironically one which theistic apologists love to spin canards from to "prove" that life by natural causes is "impossible").
