David Bowie passes, age 69

I thought he was an interesting choice to play Pontius Pilate in The Last Temptation of Christ. His Pilate wasn't the anguished hand-wringing fiction of the Gospels but an urbane, somewhat bored administrator who was tasked with dealing with a bunch of fanatics and had an unpleasant duty to perform. This, too, is probably as much fiction as the Gospels' portrayals, given what we know about Pilate from other sources, but nevertheless it was a kick to see Bowie in that role.
