David Bowie passes, age 69

.... People who do mourn a total stranger are either obsessed or lying to themselves.

Or just using "mourning" to mean something slightly different than how you mean it.

I didn't wear all black today, call off work, and cry.

I did spend time thinking about the life of a man I didn't know, reflected on my sadness at his passing, and played Bowie in my car and at the office all day long in tribute.

I think the English language is flexible enough that the word "mourning" can encompass both of the above
