But you seem to have forgotten that the whole point of the story is that the Hebrew god chose to warn Noah in advance.
What would have happened if Noah couldn't meet the deadline? Would this god have extended it a couple of weeks or whatever? At least Morgan Freeman waited for Steve Carell to finish building the boat before doing his thing, even if the only reason all the animals and onlookers were in any danger at all was precisely because the boat was being built.
