Well, when iiNet sent me a new "free" modem it had a fault and would only attain a line rate of ~33000/23000 kbit/s - with the phones plugged in and unfiltered. Before that the line rate was about 54000/23000. Something like that. I unplugged the phones (as well as the dsl splitter/filter on the modem) and got about 71000/25000. So 74267/25921 may not be much of an improvement, but do bare in mind that iiNet advertises the VDSL network of capable of speeds of between 20-80 Mbit/s down and "up to" 20 Mbit/s up ().
I thought the UK had better internet than that, why's yours so slow? That connection speed is poor, even for ADSL1. Well actually it's about average for ADSL1, at least in Australia where it's designed to achieve speeds of up to 8/1 Mbit/s. But internet's expensive here, due in large part to the cost of the submarine cables (the only disadvantage to being girt by sea). A lot of foreigners just don't understand that. Europe is all connected together by land, and of course to Africa, the Middle East, and Asia - so between the whole of Europe they only need to share a few submarine cables to the Americas. We don't have that option of course!

The WIN/Gallup End of Year Survey 2013 found the US was perceived to be the greatest threat to world peace by a huge margin, with 24% of respondents fearful of the US followed by: 8% for Pakistan, and 6% for China. This was followed by 5% each for: Afghanistan, Iran, Israel, North Korea. -LINK
"That's disgusting. There were clean athletes out there that have had their whole careers ruined by people like Lance Armstrong who just bended thoughts to fit their circumstances. He didn't look up cheating because he wanted to stop, he wanted to justify what he was doing and to keep that continuing on." - Nicole Cooke
