Yuka, the neurosurgeon was lying. His account of the damage done to his brain does not match his medical records of his hospital stay. Furthermore, he's been sued for malpractice several times, including twice for falsifying medical records in order to cover up for his mistakes. There's absolutely no reason to believe he's credible.
The Russian scientist was declared dead by people afraid of the KGB. He wasn't actually dead.
They didn't see a tunnel of light because they weren't actually dying. They were dreaming and/or hallucinating.
That they were men of science doesn't matter. That they were atheists doesn't matter. Smart people aren't immune from making dumb choices, and traumatic experiences affect people.
Maybe you should do some actual research into the people and events you parade around. We're not swayed by the 'personal' anecdotes of people quite literally trying to sell a brand.
