Even with charities I'd be willing to donate to, I still would not donate over the phone or at my door. You have no clue in those situations who that person is and have no way of knowing if they are scamming you. Best way to donate is to go to a credible established physical location.

Just stay out of my private life when it comes to selling me anything at my door. If I want something I will go to it myself.
