I am an in-home math tutor and I once turored a (sort of) home schooled girl because the mom didn't know algebra. Seemed the main reason for home schooling was they lived on a ranch pretty far from town. Also they were Christian but didn't bring it up with me at all aside from the girl mentioning that she was enrolled in a home school version of a Christian private school. Apparently the arrangement was that the milf er I mean the mom would grade the tests and mail them to the "school" and that would actually count.
So obviously the horror stories of home schooling you all are talking about wouldn't even involve the neglectful parents paying for a tutor. But the point is that private schools also should be under scrutiny. I've tutored kids who went from private schools to public schools and found they were behind on math. Because of course essential math skills take a back seat to religious "studies."

Jesus is like Pinocchio. He's the bastard son of a carpenter. And a liar. And he wishes he was real.
