I thought the third was meh too, until I watched this.

Hmm; I was guessing a meaning more like "I enjoyed the HP Movies except for three of them - 1, 2 and 4"
Ha, actually, I meant #3. I think 1 and 2 have some pretty bad acting by some of the kids, but I just love the simple magic of them, they capture the books perfectly. #4 has issues, but mostly it is from trying to cram a lot of book into one movie.
#3 is my least fave book as well as movie, but the movie is just....gack. That director screwed up so much stuff, important stuff. Like Harry steals a lolly from Neville....that's not something Harry would ever do! Also, effing up Patronis's, (which later movies corrected), and the layout of the entire grounds. And time travel. Blech, poor choice by JK, and poor implementation in the movie.
But AAANyway, back to GoT's. There is no way I'm waiting for Martin to finish the novels, lol. First off, he's wandering around too much in the last 2 books, not staying focused. Other series have done that (Wheel of time) and it is the #1 top most annoying thing a series writer can do, IMHO. When I need to keep notes on who characters are, where they are, and why they are there because there are literally 100's of people I now need to keep track of, the author has gone too far, imo.
For example, I'm reading a great chapter about Cercei and the Sparrows, and then the next chapter starts out talking about what Sir Tytos Blackwood is doing, and I'm like, who the fuck is that again? And why do I care? It happens a LOT in books 4 and 5. Some people may enjoy that, but he's gone off the deep end IMO, and needs to get back on track for the 40+ characters I do know and have managed to care about.
Anyway, the TV show is doing a good job of condensing it down, and actually delivering the story, instead of sitting on it for years and whining about how the fans are impatient. Just saying...
