And really, not just for this child, but any molestation victim would potentially be unable to function properly when forced to face the perpetrator and relive the trauma... the legal system is fucked up. Heck even I don't understand half the things toddlers say unless their parents explain, so why is it so wrong if the father tried to explain it? At least it's better than misunderstanding the victim...
Look, nobody is not saying don't believe the kid, and of course we don't want more trauma coming to the kid. What needs to be done in that particular jurisdiction is that the laws regulating investigation, need to create a better vetting system allowing trained professional child psychiatrists and medical professionals examine and interview the kid. In this case this most likely happened due to lack of funding. And the accused can face the accuser without them being in the room or even seeing their face. The accuser can be in another room in the court building via remote camera with their faced blocked by something.
The downside to cases like this is that there isn't always physical evidence and teachers and spouses can have their lives ruined by a false accusation. A teacher gives a kid a bad grade, or a spouse falsely accuses the other of abuse to gain custody of a kid. Those things do happen too.
The key to getting it right is FUNDING and or changing the laws in that location so that those within the system can do their jobs better.
