Oh just get it colored woman! A professional colorist will always be able to show you beforehand what the color will be. Unlike that boxed shit which is one size fits all, a professionally done color job will always be able to revert it back to what it was, if you're not happy with it.
For the tat... do it! I got my first one at age 35 and have added three more since. Best. Decision. Ever. (for me anyways.)
