I think you're imposing your own atheistic cynical Nazi agenda by insisting that the words say what they say. What if they don't say what they say? God is mysterious after all. Obviously, if the words look like utter bollocks, we're not reading them right. So we should replace them with words that make sense, while still crediting God or whatever nobrash wrote all this stuff.
