I casually told a co-worker that she was weird once, because she would just blurt out the oddest shit at inappropriate times. Imagine my surprise when teared up and told me that she was sorry. She'd spent all of her childhood and formative years in a cult, isolated from regular society, and that she too thought she was weird; It frustrated her to not be particularly good at reading social cues.
