Obviously, he was following the teachings of the Christ who in Luke 22:36 told his disciples to take their swords and if they had no sword to sell their cloak and buy one. You must be talking about the other Christ.
You really should study your bible more thoroughly before you call somebody ignorant. In my experience, people who don't believe the bible know a lot more about it than people who do.
